DREAMING IN DIGITAL: BLENDING SURREALISM WITH AI MASTERY
- November 22, 2024 by ArtiAI MAGAZINE
TSK, the Malaysian-born artist now based in Shanghai, seamlessly blends over two decades of photography and commercial editing expertise with the unbounded potential of AI. His work re imagines the everyday, transforming mundane moments into surreal dreamscapes that explore identity, transformation, and avant-garde fashion.
In his latest series, “Dreamers in Transit,” ordinary public spaces become ethereal realms, where daydreamers drift between reality and imagination. With AI as his creative companion, TSK redefines visual storytelling, crafting immer sive journeys that blur the lines between the tan gible and the fantastical. This is not just AI art— it’s a mesmerizing experience that challenges perceptions and captivates the mind.
HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE?
My artistic style dives into surreal dreamscapes, blending experimental fashion with unconven tional storytelling. I’m all about exploring identity and transformation, often incorporating portraits, figures, and imaginary creatures. The compo sitions tend to flow in strange, distorted ways, adding movement and drawing viewers into a whimsical yet introspective inner world. I’m al ways excited to try new styles and see where my art can go next, constantly pushing myself to dis cover new possibilities. I consider myself a visual creator who thrives on using diverse tools to bring my ideas to life. AI has become an exciting medium for me, offering the freedom to explore new artistic possibilities and push creative boundaries, all without being boxed into a single category.
WHAT ROLE DOES AI PLAY IN YOUR WORK AS A TV ADVERTIS ING EDITOR?ADDITIONALLY, HOW HAVE THESE CHANGES BEEN REFLECTED OR EXPERIENCED IN THE TV ADVERTISING INDUSTRY IN CHINA?
As a TV advertising editor, AI is like having an extra set of creative hands to streamline the pro cess. While I don’t use tools like MidJourney for the editing process, AI tools like RunwayML offer quick and efficient features that help with tasks like masking and object tracking, freeing me up to make my offline presentations more impres sive to clients. As an AI artist, tools like MidJour ney let me experiment with new ideas, acting like a brainstorming partner who’s always ready for ‘what ifs.’ In China, I’ve seen the TV advertising industry embrace new tech, becoming more agile and innovative. But at the end of the day, AI is just another tool. The real magic happens when creative minds come together and push boundaries.
