SCULPTING EMOTION IN THE DIGITAL WILD

- November 22, 2024  by  ArtiAI MAGAZINE

Argentina-based digital artist SARES transforms raw emotions into visual masterpieces, blending AI, 3D art, and data to craft immersive, generative experiences. With over a decade of experience in both analog and digital mediums, SARES pushes the boundaries of art, exploring the intersections of human identity, emotion, and technology. His creations don’t just exist— they evolve, challenging viewers to explore the delicate balance between chaos and control.

From the explosive “Irae,” which reflects his personal battle with burnout and anger, to the intimate “Amores,” SARES turns deeply personal experiences into dynamic visual narratives. Through interactive systems and algorithmic artistry, he breaks the traditional mold, offering a new, emotionally charged dimension of art. In SARES’ work, human emotions meet the boundless possibilities of the digital realm, creating something profoundly immersive and transformative.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE?

My artistic style merges digital exploration with conceptual depth. I use a combination of generative art, AI, 3D art, and data analysis to create dynamic and immersive visuals that reflect on human emotions. I’m particularly drawn to exploring the intersection of humans and technology, presenting deep themes through an analytical and emotional lens. My works often balance fluidity and structure, integrating data-driven visuals with storytelling to form an aesthetic that invites contemplation and engagement. The result is a visual language that transforms abstract concepts into experiences that are both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant.
HOW HAS AI TECHNOLOGY CHANGED YOUR APPROACH TO ART CREATION?

AI has shifted my process from fixed ideas to a dynamic exploration. It allows me to create starting points and intervene in unexpected ways, transforming my concepts through a dialogue between human intuition and machine capabilities. AI pushes my work beyond its orig inal scope and enriches the creative journey.
WHAT ROLE DO YOU THINK AI WILL PLAY IN FUTURE ART CREATION?

AI will become a significant collaborator in generative and new media art. It can redefine content creation and help artists explore new abstract visual languages. The challenge is using AI to go beyond technical skill and reveal each artist’s unique creative mark, while embracing its unpre dictability.

HOW DO YOU MAXIMIZE AI’S POTENTIAL WHILE MAINTAINING THE CORE VALUES OF HUMAN CREATIVITY?

I believe the synergy between AI and human cre ativity is constant and inevitable nowadays, no matter the medium. AI somehow intervenes dur ing the process, whether generating initial foundations or acting as technical support throughout the creation phase. For me, everything usually begins with a conversation using LLM models, where I discuss and debate certain emotions I want to portray. This relationship deepens as the creative process progresses, but it’s always present, whether through generating visual ele ments or conceptualizing new directions.

The key to maintaining human creativity’s core values lies in how we approach the tool. It’s the human being who designs, improves, and decides how to use the technology. Therefore, if our values and ethics are aligned with our professional vision, the results will be positive. It’s up to us to uphold the integrity of the creative process. As Stanislaw Lem said in Summa Tech nologiae, “Technology provides the means and the tools; our merit or fault lies in the beneficial or harmful way we use it.” I think this sums it up per fectly: it’s the human element that shapes how the technology is used, and by extension, it’s our responsibility to ensure that the creative values remain intact throughout the collaboration.

HOW HAS AI TECHNOLOGY AFFECTED YOUR TIME MANAGEMENT OR CREATIVE WORKFLOW?

One of the most positive impacts of AI on my workflow has been the optimization of time. It al lows me to focus more on experimentation and less on repetitive technical aspects. This aligns well with the nature of my creative process, where an idea often evolves during its creation. Rather than strictly adhering to a predefined concept, I allow for improvisation and unexpected discoveries. This flexibility makes the workflow smoother, enabling continuous adjustments and the integration of new ideas in real-time, ultimately leading to more enriching outcomes. Additionally, the optimization that AI provides has opened up new directions for exploration. For example, by automating certain aspects of pro duction, I can devote more time to conceptual development and creative decision-making. This has led to a more fluid process, where each new project builds on the learnings and discoveries of previous ones. AI has truly expanded my creative potential by freeing up time and mental space for more in-depth experimentation and refinement.
